About

Dr. David Lee

Dr. David Lee migrated to Australia from Taiwan in the late 1990’s. Raised by a family of medical professionals, he grew up with keen interests in both Classical Chinese literature and Chinese philosophy, which form the basis of Chinese Medicine.

David obtained his double degree in Western Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine at Chinese Medical University, Taiwan, the top ranked university for TCM in Taiwan.

CMU Taiwan’s motto of “benevolence, prudence, diligence, and honesty” (仁、慎、勤、廉) reflect the values that David strives to uphold every day as a medical practitioner.

David practised in Taiwan for 3 years before opening up his own Acupuncture clinic in Sydney’s CBD in 2010, and has been treating clients ever since.

He is a registered member of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS), the Chinese Medical Association of Acupuncture (CMAA), and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

A compassionate and dedicated practitioner, David strives to provide his clients with optimal health outcomes, using Chinese Medicine to treat a range of health conditions, from pain management, digestive issues, weight management, mental health, and more.

David is fluent in English, as well as Mandarin and Hokkien, and combines modern medicine with Chinese medicine philosophies to uncover the root cause of issues and give his clients the best quality of life possible.

David is married and is a strong advocate for the benefits of Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, and the philosophy of Yin-Yang balance. He enjoys reading, studying Oriental philosophy, photography and animation.

What is Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)?

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been used for thousands of years in China.

It follows theory of Yin Yang balance, which involves the Five Elements and twelve organs/meridian, and Qi (“氣”, energy), to stimulate the body’s own healing mechanism to restore balance back to body.

Qi (“氣”) means energy in Chinese; it is the life energy that flows through your body. Normally Qi will move around in the body in an orderly and harmonious way to evenly nourish internal organs and maintain optimal function.

Five element theory explains the interactive and constant relationship between all elements of the universe, and within our body the relationship between the organs, and is the central concept of TCM.

When Yin and Yang are out of balance within the body, this can result in stress, illness, pain, or disease.

By focusing on the organ causing the issue, or the surrounding organs and meridians, we can bring balance back to your body in a way that is natural and holistic.

Chinese Medicine in Australia

Traditional Chinese Medicine, like Western Medicine, aims to improve health and quality of life through prevention and treatment of disease and illness.

However, the principles and systems between the two differ greatly, as Western medicine relies on laboratory testing and focuses on eliminating symptoms, whereas Chinese Medicine treats the body as one interconnected biosystem.

In Australia, Chinese medicine is becoming more and more popular for treating various health complaints and managing pain conditions.

Chinese medicine products are regulated by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), and practitioners are regulated in Australia by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Treat the source of your health issues and take charge of your well-being.
